Can you help me find a reasonable priced cavoodle please

Postby Cherie » Wed Jul 08, 2009 9:00 pm

After several months of research and decision making we have decided our family is ready for it's firs dog. We have decided on a Cavoodle as my son is asthmatic. (and they are gorgeous). Needless to say we are all very excited, but we just can't stretch to pay $1000 for one.  Have seen a few on Trade Me but either snapped up too fast or too far away from us (we are in Rotorua). Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hi there

There are a few that come up for rehoming that can be a good option.  It's a matter of keeping an eye on puppes here on the forum or trademe.

Here are a few that have been on trade me recently that look great.  Do ask plenty of questions about the reasons for giving the pup up to make sure there is no health issues and get the vaccination records etc...  Good to also visit and see the temperment of the parent dogs.

This one in Tauranga possibly the closest to you.  She is also a member of the forum http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =221176091

This one in Napier

This one in Palmerston North

This one in Gisborne

You could also ask the local vets if they know of anyone breeding Cavoodles in your area.
Sometimes the breeders also know of some that need to be rehomed.

Good luck. :)

thanks heaps - after lots of looking I think we are now looking for a spoodle? We wondered if a cavoodle might be a bit small but it seems hard to get any info on size. any ideas people.  we're prob looking for something around 45 cm, or knee high. the more spoodles I look at the more I fall in love with them. driving hubby nuts I suspect!

Ok
this is what I know about size of the various crosses  :D

Cavoodles (cavapoo) - caviler king charles x toy poodle (sometimes min poodle)
cav size  30 - 33 cm height  5-8kg weight
toy poodle size 25.4 cm height  3-4kg weight

Spoodle (cockerpoo)- cocker spaniel x  min poodle (sometimes toy poodle)

english cocker spaniel  size  36 -43 cm height   12 -16kg weight
american cocker spaniel  size 36 - 38cm height  7-14kg weight
Min poodle  28-38cm height   7-8 kg weight
Generally in NZ they cross the english cocker spaniel

So the sizes will be around these   :D

The breeder you go to will give you an idea of what the size of the pups have turned out in the litters if they have done a few crosses from the same parents.

Here is a web site  that covers a good range of dog breeds and crosses also discusses hybrid breeds.  Worth a look at

I know it says $900 but if you make an offer I know they'll take less as long as it's not a ridiculous offer...

$1000 is a lot for a puppy I paid $1200 for Stamford and it was really worth every penny... He's now 2 years old and the whole family wouldnt be without him... My husband is allergic to cats and dogs and this was a good choice for him. Nice personality and gentle breed of dog...

The reason I'm contacting you is that below are his puppies for sale and thought I'd let you know, just incase you've not seen the listing on this site

Hi Cherie

I've just spoken to Linda and she informed me that she's going to pick up her children from Otaki this week and is happy to meet you north of Otaki even as far as Palmerston North if you're really interested... If you are then please call her and she can arrange with you a meeting place... It's upto you...

If not then we both hope you find what you are looking for... And wish you well
