Which clippers?

I've only used them once so far. The stainless steel guides worked well and at this stage I don't think I will need to buy any other blades. The fur came off really easily. She had a couple of knots which I cut off with scissors then carried on. We paid $360 for them off Trade Me. We actually went in with friends so hasn't cost me that much. People I have met in the park think she looks good and it has inspired another woman to try too. Good luck. Would recommend getting some.

I have not long completed a proffesional dog grooming course and of course specialised in Oodles, we use the Wahl KM2 and the stainless steel guides and they are brilliant. We do use the belissimo for under paw, sanitary and around the eyes as they are lighter and have better control but not entirely necessary.

Where did you do the grooming course? How long did take? And if you don't mind me asking how much did it cost for the course? Do you think it was comprehensive?

If i lived in auckland you could do teddy, but unfortunitly its a long way will have to look into the clippers

I use the KM ss clippers and up till recentley was using the ss guide combs but I bought myself a 4f blade to go on the clippers and I used them today for the first time. It is excellent and gives a much nicer sharper cut. I always found with the SS guide combs the cut seemed choppy especially on Cooper and Tully as they have straiter fur than the other two who tend to be more curlier. The 4f give a clip about 8mm, which is pretty short I usually use the 3/4 cutter and it gives about a 10 - 13 mm clip. but I guess a week and it will be the same. I have spoken to lots of people who use clippers and the wahl are very popular!! I also use the 10 blade on its own to do up thier noses and just below thier eyes and between thier feet. These days I always give a poodle foot clip to the ankle as we have lots of grass seeds and it is easier to keep them fully checked for seeds between thier feet with not as much fur, as much as i love the full feet it is just not practical for our life style. Similar to the cut I like it reasonable short as we are out and about all the time and it is so much easier to keep if it is shorter. I pick my times if I know we have got an event coming up or we are going out of town visiting ect I let thier coats grow a bit. Anyway Im rambling now, the wahl clippers gets a big thumbs up from me and my pooches!!

I attended the Grooming School at the Animal Shack in Pukekohe, it was very good, alot harder than I thought though alot more to learn than just running the clippers overy your dog!
I have only done one stage at this point as it was too expensive for me to continue but I can do more at anytime and just pick up where I left of which is cool.
Cost is about $1500 per week and the full course from start to finish is 4 or 5 weeks.
I have used the various blades as well, I have a 3F which is good, but I find you can get a more finished look using the snap on combs as you can blend the vaious lengths to give the coat a more fuller look without the tangles!

$1500 a week? wow .... thats really expensive... though i guess if you would start a busniess out of it or if you get recognition which you can use to advertise on.... I don't want to take grooming to far with teddy because i know that all it would take is for him to run into the sea and i'd be thinking no no what about your coat
