Drontal

Postby Tallulah » Fri Jan 23, 2009 4:53 pm

We wormed Tallulah yesterday afternoon and for the rest of the day and all night she was completely hyper.  :D   Really all over the place! She just didn't seem able to sit still for more than 5 minutes. It was a flipping nightmare. This morning she is completely back to normal. Then we remembered she'd been exactly the same last time we wormed her and that time I had looked up Drontal for side effects and on all official sites it said there were none, so we just put it down to excessive energy!

This time instead of searching for 'Drontal side effects'  I searched 'drontal restless' and 'drontal hyper' and got a lot of results with people saying their dog did exactly the same.
So, have any of you had this experience?
Are there any other good worming treatments that you can recommend?
She didn't seem ill in any way and is totally back to normal, but it must have been messing with her so we'd rather use something else
thanks  :D

We had similar problem when we wormed Maddy with tablets from vets. Didn't get the name of the worm tablets but by the sounds of what happened to Tallulah it must have been same. When we gave those tablets to Maddy she couldn't sit still and was up all night which is unheard of for her. She has slept though almost every night since we got her. So I knew there was a problem. I then went back to the Endogard brand which can be brought at pet stores and we have not had another problem since. Hope this helps.  :D

thanks Sandy, I'll have a look for those ones for next time. I think we used Pancur once and it didn't have this effect, but it was before we had Tallulah and then I heard something about it making some dogs ill so changed to Drontal! :-/
